Enjoyed your video Miss Leslie! My son sat on my lap and watched it with me, and even at 7 months he enjoyed it! I’ll have to remember that song to sing to him!

Hi Nicole. Thanks for your comment. I’m glad you baby enjoyed the music! I love to teach music classes with babies and mommies because they are so responsive. I hope you’ll visit again and find more songs to sing and share.

Wishing you a song in your heart,

Do you have perfect pitch?? How did you manage to be right on pitch before using the pitch pipe?

I don’t have perfect pitch, in the sense of being able to pull a note out of the air and have it be correct. But something very interesting has been happening in the past few years. There are a number of songs for which I CAN sing the correct starting pitch, no matter how long (months, even) since I last heard the song.

One day I heard the starting note for Theodore the Tugboat on my son’s video, and I thought, That sounds like the exact same pitch for the starting note of the old 60s song, Johnny Angel, by Shelley Fabares. I had the song on my computer, and listened… and sure enough, I was right!

Things like that may seem trivial, but I find them fascinating. :)

Hi Willena. No, I don’t have perfect pitch, but I do have well-developed relative pitch and pitch memory. And the pitches for one of my absolute favorite songs, Johnny Angel, are so, re, do. :) It’s interesting that you are able to start certain songs on pitch. According to Dr. Howard Gardener, music is one of eight intelligences, so it makes sense that it could keep developing, even if you are unaware of it doing so. I appreciate your taking the time to comment.

    Hi Miss Leslie,
It’s great to see a website like this… I have always thought I have some musical talent, bought myself a guitar and even a piano but never got to study like I would have loved. It’s not easy to focus on a musical career starting at the age of 30 :) there isn’t enough time available.
But these lessons will be great for my 9 year old niece, I can’t wait to show them to her.
    Thanks,
    George

Hi George. I know what you mean about time. The sands of my hourglass are starting to run rather fast now, and I can see I’ll never accomplish all I wanted. I sometimes don’t even get to practice as much as I would like to! But you don’t have to have a musical career to play an instrument. Just do it for fun, relaxation, and a sense of accomplishment. Singing and playing are so therapeutic. Thank you so much for your comments.

I enjoyed this video. I have 3 daughters and I think this will be great for them. They enjoy singing so much that I sometimes have to beg them to pipe down, lol. Can’t wait to see their faces when they hear they’re getting singing lessons.

I love that you have 3 singing girls in your house, Hazel-Ann. I’ve sung all my life and love it so much. I hope your girls enjoy the videos. There are more on my YouTube channel. I’m glad to get to know you.

It never seizes to amaze me what we can learn online these days. Video is perfect for your music lessons. And you teach in such a fun way. I never thought I would say that about music lessons, given that I was always chosen to do other things during music hour, so I would not mess up the rest of the class… lol.

Okay, Karin, you can close yourself up in a room all by yourself and learn how to carry a tune without the bucket :) Seriously, I really don’t like it when teachers point out to kids that they can’t sing. It can leave a scar for life, but I believe it’s never to late to learn. Thanks for your comment.

Wishing you a song in your heart – and in your voice,
      Miss Leslie
